As an Academy, Poolsbrook Primary Academy is its own admissions authority. If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
Our Nursery provides part-time education 3 and 4 year old children. The maximum number on roll is . Our children currently attend for five morning sessions.
Your child’s name can be added to the Nursery Admissions Book by telephoning the school and speaking to the Nursery Teacher Mrs Bennett. Places are allocated in a fair manner and parents need to understand that the allocation of a Nursery place to a child who lives outside the normal catchment area does not automatically guarantee a place in the Reception class.
All School Admission Arrangements 2019-2020
For entry in to our Reception (and any in-year admissions) Poolsbrook Primary participate in the Local Authority Admissions scheme.. Therefore Derbyshire County Council co-ordinate the Admissions applications on the academy's behalf.
The LA is responsible for all admissions and enables parents to express a preference for one, two or three schools and to place those preferences in rank order. Parents must make their application on a common application form or preferably via the Derbyshire County Council website, prior to the cut-off date, giving reasons for their preferred schools. Further information about the coordinated admissions scheme is available on the Local Authority’s website and can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
All applications to Reception must be made directly to Derbyshire Local Authority as indicated above. There is only one admission round within the year into Reception and this is in September. A child who is five between the 1st September 2014 and the following 31st August 2015 will be admitted into Reception in the September 2019. The pupil admission number for Poolsbrook Primary Academy is 15.
If you couldn't get a place for your child in the school you wanted you can appeal against the decision.

Children transfer to secondary education when they have completed their final year in our school at the age of 11. Parents have a choice of two schools in the area: Springwell Community College, which is an 11-18 Comprehensive School, and Netherthorpe School, which is an Academy (and part of the Cavendish Learning Trust) for children aged 11-18.
