Remembrance Service

Remembering 100 years

All our pupils and staff played a full part in a moving tribute to the local heroes of two World wars at the Service of Remembrance on Friday, 9th November.

During the service, conducted by Staveley's Methodist Minister, Richard Harris and attended by Interim Headteacher Joanne Mappin, Assistant Headteacher Louise Parker and Chair of Governors Colin Muncie, Parish Councillor Sandra Bagshaw read the names of the 27 local servicemen who fell in World War One and 4 who fell in World War Two, before the gathering observed the two minutes silence and moments of prayer.

The children all wearing poppies, laid their own wreaths at the beautiful ceremonial stone in Poolsbrook.
