Fuelling Young Minds for a Brighter Future!

Ofsted and Performance Data

The school had an Ofsted Inspection in March and sadly the school received an overall ‘Inadequate’ judgement from the Inspector, with some areas deemed as 'requires improvement'.

As the new leaders of the school, we knew that this was always going to be a difficult inspection due to the historic decline in results over the past few years but we are still devastated by the result. We are pleased, however, that the report recognises the hard work we have started and the plans that are in place for tackling the issues highlighted.

‘The acting executive teacher and the acting head of school work together effectively. In a short time, they have achieved some notable successes. They have quickly gained the confidence of staff and parents. They are developing other leadership roles in the school and introducing a number of initiatives to improve the quality of teaching. However, these developments are at an early stage.’

The last sentence is a key factor throughout the report as many of the things we have implemented and changed are still in the early stages and as a school we cannot demonstrate our impact YET!  We are confident that the things we have done so far, have changed things for the better but inevitably it will take some time to evidence.

The support we have had from the school community and the parents/carers of our amazing children, strengthens our commitment and dedication to ensuring that Poolsbrook Primary is seen by Ofsted as the fantastic school we know it is.

‘Parents and pupils appreciate the school’s caring ethos. Both groups are confident to share worries or problems with staff. Relationships between staff and pupils are strong. Pupils treat adults and each other with respect.’
